The Daycare Assistant Teacher shall implement the curriculum and oversee the daily schedule during Day Care hours. The Daycare Assistant Teacher will also coordinate, collaborate and implement treatment plans regarding parenting issues for SSTARBIRTH clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement daily schedule for SSTARBIRTH Day Care.
  • Plan meals, snacks and daily schedule.
  • Meet weekly with Head Teacher and/or Education Coordinator for program planning and plans for individual children.
  • Supervise children, engage in playtime, feeding, changing diapers.
  • Maintain weekly medical chart and daily activity log.
  • Complete required Daycare paperwork (e.g., Attendance, Laundry Scheduled).
  • Coordinate with Early Intervention as needed.
  • Act as liaison between community resources for children and SSTARBIRTH.
  • Advise residents regarding effective parenting and report to Head Teacher and/or Education Coordinator
  • Coordinate with counselors in regard to treatment issues that focus on parenting issues.
  • Clean and Maintain equipment and materials.
  • In absence of Head Teacher and/or Education Coordinator will supervise daily operation of Day Care.
  • Coordinate outings for children and parents.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in childhood education or social services with a minimum of one year’s experience in delivery of childcare services., OR
  • Hold a Child Development Associate credential (CDA), OR
  • Hold a high school diploma with a vocational concentration in childcare that includes two (2) years of supervises experience in a licensed/approved early childhood program, OR
  • Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent and have three (3) years of experience in a licensed/approved early childhood program or certified family day care home; and have a history of regular participation in ongoing early childhood staff development program.
  • Knowledge of child development and growth
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of SUD or other Human Services is useful.
