The Billing Specialist is responsible for the full claims billing cycle.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare claims to be billed to appropriate insurances.
  • Work denials from insurances.
  • Distribute insurance payments in EMR.
  • Prepare "Recommend Write Off" periodically and submit for review.
  • Prepare "Aging Reports" and work open claims on the report.
  • Troubleshoot problems with insurances, verification of coverage and contact staff in other departments when needed.
  • Process authorizations when needed or contact appropriate staff to process.
  • Apply behavioral health client payments in practice management system.
  • Prepare refunds to clients when needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years medical office experience or completion of medical billing program with at least one year of medical office experience.
  • Minimum high school graduate.
  • Excellent computer skills – ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
