The Clinician is responsible for the coordination of treatment and services of residents in residential treatment for substance use disorder.  Communicate program philosophy, goals and procedures to residents and contribute to create a safe and nurturing environment conducive to the successful treatment and recovery of residents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling and case management with assigned residents.
  • Facilitate group therapy and psycho educational groups.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management when needed.
  • Conduct placement screening and assessment of potential residents for appropriate level of care.  Provide referrals to other agencies, as needed.
  • Conduct intake/orientation of newly admitted residents.
  • Obtain bio-psycho-social histories, develop integrated summaries and establish treatment plans with residents.
  • Document on-going resident progress, individual and group participation, case conference and family meetings.
  • Assist residents with discharge and aftercare planning to include referrals for ongoing services and resources.
  • Complete discharge summary and other related paperwork within designated time frame.
  • Communicate with outside agencies and report to DCYF, courts and probation and document accordingly.
  • Maintain clinical records on assigned patients in accordance with agency policy and state licensure requirements.
  • Comply with reporting requirements established by Program’s funding sources.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings and other staff development activities to improve professional competence.
  • Participate in rotating weekend on-call responsibilities and provide support to on duty staff, as needed.
  • Report any crises/concerns to Program Director or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Participates in crisis management where required.

Experience and Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/ Human services (or related field) preferred, OR
  • Equivalent professional experience in the field of Chemical Dependency. 
  • Certification in Chemical Dependency.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of SUD or other Human Services is useful.
