Job Description:

SSTAR’s Fall River Inpatient Program has an opening for a Full Time (40hr) counselor. The hours are Monday-Friday 1:00pm to 9:00pm and every other weekend. We are looking for a professional to provide  substance abuse counseling and case management including assessment, treatment and aftercare planning in accordance with established performance standards. It is essential that this person contributes as a team member to produce an environment conducive to the successful treatment of patients. Bi-lingual people of all genders are encouraged to apply. 


  • Provide counseling services to clients assigned; intervene and provide crisis intervention and management.
  • Provide educational groups to include life skill training, substance abuse education and relapse prevention, per program schedule.
  • Communicate program philosophy, goals, and procedures to clients.
  • Conduct screening, intake and assessment of potential clients for appropriate placement. Provide referral for alternative programming when necessary.
  • Participate in planning, developing and scheduling of program activities.
  • Provide on-going assessment, development and implementation of treatment plans, counseling and on-going referrals when needed. Communicate to the next shift counselor/charge person any pertinent observations.
  • Participate in on-going supervision, staff training and staff meetings.


Experience and Skills:


  • Substance Use Disorder Professional who is licensed or working towards a license.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent professional experience in the field of Substance Use Disorder treatment preferred, or other Human Services.
  • Direct care positions in Substance Use Disorder programs require two years of continuous sobriety for individuals in recovery.
