Job Description:

Massachusetts Impaired Driving Program Counselor/Educator

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Perform intake assessment for clients and provide written reports to probation officers.
  2. Conduct driver alcohol education groups. Participation in on-going curriculum development.
  3. Consult with probation officers on client’s involvement with alcohol and attitudes toward behavior change. Communicate with probation officers when particular clients exhibit non-compliance with program regulations.
  4. Perform exit assessments for all clients, including counseling the client concerning his involvement with alcohol, explanation of possible resources for treatment, suggesting and arranging referrals for further treatment, consulting with the probation officer as to recommendations for further activities while on probation.
  5. Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human services or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
  • Experience in education, counseling, casework or other therapeutic treatment and education methods.
  • Knowledge and experience in teaching and group counseling, in the field of alcoholism, substance abuse or other human services.
  • At least two years continuous sobriety is required for people in recovery from drugs or alcohol
