Job Description:

SSTAR has an opening for a Master Level Clinician in our Women's Center. The Women’s Center Clinician provides education, advocacy, and counseling (both individual and group) for victims of intimate-partner violence and domestic abuse.

General Responsibilities:

Maintain a weekly schedule of 40 office hours, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday or other times as agreed

Direct Service Responsibilities:

  1. Provide counseling for survivors of complex trauma, who may also experience mental health and substance use disorders, including intake assessments, individual counseling, and group therapy.
  2. Provide on-going weekly groups for victims, incorporating trauma-informed approaches with the empowerment model of treatment and psychoeducation on domestic and intimate-partner abuse.
  3. Develop group treatment plans utilizing evidence-based curricula, established group protocols and best practices.
  4. Assist clients in developing personalized safety plans by assessing their risks, needs and resources.
  5. Assess client needs regarding other SSTAR and Women’s Center services and refer accordingly.
  6. Provide information on available community-based services, such as legal and judicial supports, housing, transitional assistance, victim compensation, etc.
  7. Support case management functions as necessary, working in conjunction with other staff.
  8. Maintain electronic case records, including clinical assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans, in a timely manner and in compliance with agency standards.

Clinical Support Service Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clinical support and consultation for Women’s Center Helpline and Walk-in Crisis Intervention Services as needed, working in conjunction with other SSTAR staff and the Director.
  2. Provide case consultation for SSTAR staff and community stakeholders, as requested by the Director.
  3. Collaborate with Ambulatory Behavioral Health staff to ensure high-quality care: collaborating on client intake, providing consultation on complex trauma, and participating in staff meetings as needed.

Women’s Center Services Special Requirements:

  1. Provide community-based training, education and outreach on domestic violence and its impacts, as requested.
  2. Participate in SSTAR Women’s Center program events and attend all Women’s Center Group Supervision Meetings and trainings as required by the Director of the Women’s Center.
  3. Attend and/or complete training provided per MGL 233, 20k; to work as a domestic violence advocate/counselor.
  4. Maintain confidential client documentation and adhere to protocols for client confidentiality, as outlined in MGL 233, sec 20K, SSTAR policies and practices, and other guidelines as required.
  5. Report suspected incidents of abuse to DCF, Elder Services, and DPPC as appropriate, and work with the Women’s Center Director to assist advocacy staff to make mandated reports, as required.
  6. Other duties as required or requested by the Director of the Women’s Center.**

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of a Master’s degree in counseling psychology or social work.
  2. Clinical licensure, LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT, preferred. Licensure-track required.
  3. Prior experience in working with domestic violence, complex trauma, and/or crime victims preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of victim advocacy supports and resources.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals.
  6. Sensitivity to diversity issues and a commitment to cultural competency.
  7. Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) a plus.
