Job Description:

SSTAR's Front Office Specialist for the Health Center performs clerical and reception functions for Health Center Front Office, assists other staff members.  Starting pay rate is $15.00.  Hours: 8:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30a to 5:30p Monday and Thursday.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Office Specialist will answer telephone lines and check messages, open batch for days work
  • Assist patients checking in by verifying patient information (address, telephone and insurance)
  • Ensure all insurance verification has been attached to patient chart.
  • Front Office Specialist verify that there are scanned copies of patient’s insurance cards, and patient picture.
  • If no insurance refer to Health Access for Mass Health or Free Care.
  • Obtain all appropriate signatures for patient forms.
  • Verify all patient information is correct in EPM.
  • Schedule, Reschedule and cancel appointments as needed
  • Assist patients checking out
  • Collect Co-pays, reconcile batch and post.
  • Lock cash box and doors.
  • Responsible for informing and registering patients for patient portal.
  • Responds to requests for information.
  • Other front office duties as needed

Experience and Skills:


  • Excellent word processing and communication skills.
  • Bilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply

  • Experience with scheduling, typing and computer skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
