The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works with clinical team to assess mental health treatment needs for women in residence. The PNP provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and education.  The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner accesses community resources as indicated. Reviews psychiatric literature and remains current on medication updates.

This is a per diem role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose mental health disorders, evaluate psycho-pharmacological needs of residents in treatment and prescribe appropriate medication.
  • Monitor side effects of medications, compliance to treatment plan regarding medication and provide psycho-educational information to clients.
  • Consult with practicing psychiatrist on an as needed basis.
  • Access community resources as indicated to address mental health needs of clients in residence.  Maintain collaborative relationship with community providers and maintain continuity of care.
  • Provide feedback to treatment team on client treatment needs and progress.
  • Assess trauma treatment needs of women in residence and provide trauma treatment services through individual and/or group sessions.
  • Oversee program protocols and policies related to mental and physical health issues.
  • Provide nursing support to the daycare.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

Education & Experience

  • Masters level Registered Nurse with Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in family psychiatric and mental health nursing.
  • Licensed to prescribe medication in Rhode Island.
  • Experienced in trauma treatment, substance abuse and medication management.
