Job Description:

The MAT Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to patients and staff in the Buprenorphine, Naltrexone and Methadone programs.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for screening and consenting potential clients for MAT programs.
  2. Assist in the maintenance of patient flow including weight, height, vital signs, medication review and patient preparation as needed.
  3. Schedule patients and participate with tracking of patients for follow up.
  4. Assist with admission of new clients, including supervised urine drug screens, urine pregnancy tests and interpreting tests including breathe alcohol test.
  5. Completing assessment paperwork and other required program paperwork.
  6. Scheduling random urines, pill counts, EKG’s and vital signs for clients under the direction of RN Case Mangers.
  7. Order urine drug screening tests.
  8. Participate in monthly MAT meeting.
  9. Complete prior authorization for MAT medications.  Utilize the Covermy meds program or MAT preferred program at the time.
  10. Input office procedures, billing changes and other pertinent clinical information into EHR.
  11. Triage incoming phone calls.  Assist with cancelling and scheduling appointments as needed.
  12. Submit application for PT-1 form via website.
  13. Assist with the completion of all MAT related paperwork.
  14. Maintain adequate stocking of supplies.
  15. Disposes of biohazard waste on a daily basis.
  16. Availability to work evening shifts.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:


  1. Certified medical assistant.
  2. Strong organizational skills.  Excellent Computer skills ie: Word, Excel and ability to use electronic medical records
  3. Ability to work well with co-workers and supervisors.
  4. Willingness to learn new protocols and follow direction.  Ability to perform CLIA waiver testing.
  5. Bilingual preferred.
  6. CPR Certified

At least two years of continuous sobriety is required for people in recovery from drugs or alcohol.
